Before Entering a Bodybuilding Contest- Things to Consider

First there are a few things you should know if you feel you are ready to compete in these bodybuilding contests. To compete you must join one of the bodybuilding organizations. This will require picking one and paying a reasonable membership fee. This should let you be able to compete in any of their events and cover a year’s membership.

Understand that when picking a group to join that they usually fall in two catagories. They either test their competitors before the bodybuilding contests or they do not. If you have used steroids in the past five years you should join the non-testing group. Before making a decision, you should see exactly what is allowed and not allowed. Often those who have not taken anything that they shouldn’t still want to enter into those bodybuilding contests that do test.  This is because they feel that the competition will be harder against those who make take a variety of bodybuilding aids. If you are convinced that this is what you want don’t be suprised at other bodybuilder’s muscles.

When you want to enter a bodybuilding contest just remember that it will take a long time to prepare for it. You will need to refine your diet, making sure you eat at least six meals a day. You will want to increase your weight training as well as any other activities and exercises that you have been using to bulk up.

Surprisingly one thing that makes a big difference on stage is how deep your tan is. You want to ensure you have a good one even if you have to use tanning products to look that way. The lights will make you look paler and that takes away from your appearance. You will also want to buy yourself a pair of what is called posing trunks. Troubleshooting: Build Muscle Mass

‘Why am I not getting any bigger?’ is one of the most often questions asked globally from bodybuilders. After all you are training hard, with good muscle building nutrition in your diet, yet your gains are still minimal. The sense of frustration after all of the months of effort is tremendous and can be really demotivating. So, what precisely is the answer? Well, there are a few likely causes, see if any of these ring a bell with you, together they show you how to build muscle:

1) Is your calorie intake high enough? Under eaters could be the real name for many hardgainers. As this really is a massive cause of lack of muscle mass. The key to building muscle mass is frequent high calorie meals! Consuming food every two hours is a sensible rule of thumb which will enable you to take in the required amount of calories. You could try 10 sets of 10 reps for any major exercise like squats, simply reverse your workout order, do more supersets (get ready to be sore!) or just give yourself a week off from training to allow your body to fully recover. Make use of the endless amount of variations that are possible.

4) Are you managing to take enough rest? Did you ever witness someone workout and then leave with more muscle than when they had entered? Never. Clearly then you build muscle mass when you are at home and not when you are lifting barbells. You will certainly be limiting your muscle growth if you are not getting enough rest time. If anything over compensate and give your body more than enough time to grow. Try decreasing your session to just one workout per muscle group per week. Also decreasing the amount of sets done for each body part, try just 3-5 intense sets per bodypart per workout. Think that is not enough, try it and watch the results!

5) Are you consuming enough water? If you are skimping on the water then you really are limiting your progress. In order to grow, your muscles need copious amounts of water. Carry a bottle with you in the car and never stop drinking from it.

So the initial question: “Why am I not growing faster?’ as you can see, has more than one answer. Answer the above questions honestly and make the necessary adjustments. If you are not hitting just one of the above guidelines then you may possibly have found the probelm underlying your limited growth. If there are more than one of these points that your bodybuilding lifestyle does not meet then urgent change is required. Of course there are heaps of other reasons why you might not be growing but the above are the usual culprits. Now go hit the gym and gain some weight!
